You can submit your own press releases but think if your time values more than how much you would pay a press release service. Just do the math and if your income/hour is higher than the cost of using a press release service submitting your press releases yourself mean loss of money.

Where to submit your Press Releases ?
There are many press release websites. The rule of thumb is that the bigger their PR (page rank) is than most likely will be harder to get your press release in. SO what to do ?
You must balance your press release submission between very big sites and new/niche press release websites.
